Hannibal man charged with Domestic Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon

Hannibal, Mo (WGEM) — Marion County Prosecuting Attorney, David Clayton has reported that charges have been filed against a Hannibal man for  Domestic Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Clayton stated that Timothy Stevens, 37, is alleged to have caused serious physical injury to his spouse by injuring her head and body and allegedly putting an unloaded gun to her head on another occasion.

Clayton reported that the charge of Domestic Assault 2nd degree carries a range of punishment up to 7 years in prison, up to 1 year in jail and up to a $10,000 fine. The Unlawful Use of a Weapon charge carries a range of punishment up to 4 years in prison, up to 1 year in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.

Clayton stated,

“My office has been in contact with the victim’s family. They have been notified that the defendant is being held in the Marion County jail. Due to the seriousness of the alleged offenses, my office requested bond to be set at $100,000 cash only. The Court set the bond at $25,000 cash only. These are very serious and dangerous offenses and my office will continue to take the matter seriously.”

The defendant’s next court date will likely be November 9 by video, Clayton stated.
