QUINCY (WGEM) – The search for Quincy University’s 24th President appears to be picking up steam, with the list of candidates trimmed down to three.
The Presidential Search Committee received close to 70-applicants back in early September, which was later trimmed to a list of semi-finalists later that month.
The final candidates selected from that group are now in the hands of the Board of Trustees.
Search Committee Chairman Mike McClain says that all three of the finalists submitted to the Board of Trustees were done so by a unanimous decision from the 21-person panel making up the Presidential Search Committee.
“It’s going to be a real tough decision for the Board of Trustees,” said McClain. “We haven’t interviewed the third (candidate) yet, but I’m just saying that all three are extremely well qualified.”
McClain says he expects a decision to be made by the Board of Trustees by the end of the calendar year.
Once a decision is made and a deal is reached, he says the goal would be for the new President to take office on July 1st.
