If you drive on downtown Quincy streets, get ready for more orange cones in the future.
At Tuesday’s city council meeting, aldermen approved spending $6,500 for land surveying ahead of the reconstruction of Vermont Street between Fifth and Seventh.
The city also wants to reconstruct North Sixth Street from Maine to Vermont. This is the area surrounding the new Adams County Jail.
“The projects are tied together in terms of the utilities and the drainage,” said Quincy Utilities and Engineering Director Jeffrey Conte. “It makes sense to survey both of them at the same time that will be used to design improvements, replace infrastructure and upgrades to the drainage in the area.”
Conte says the land survey means they’ll look at elevation of the pavement, location of utilities and boundaries between the buildings in that area.
No word yet on when that survey will start.
