Have you gotten your flu shot yet?
Local doctors say you should get it now, before you visit family the rest of this holiday season.
Doctors at SIU Center for Family Medicine in Quincy are urging people to get their flu shots because you are significantly less likely to get the flu if you’re vaccinated.
Doctors say getting the vaccine can also help prevent spreading the flu virus, especially to your elderly relatives this holiday season.
“They are more susceptible to getting the flu so in that scenario even if you think you would be fine getting the flu and handling all of the stuff that comes with it,” said Dr. Ayaaz Habibullah. “The elderly people may not be so it’s really important before you start interacting and meeting all of these people, the older people in the community, that you’re vaccinated.”
