Monroe City’s 94th Annual Basketball Tourney Rolls On With MC Panthers Hosting South Shelby

A heavy high school basketball schedule was once again on tap on Wednesday night in the heart of Panthers country.

That’s where Monroe City’s 94th Annual Basketball Tournament rolls on for a number of girls and boys teams from throughout the Tri-States’.

One of the boys games in the spotlight featured the host Panthers tipping off against the Cardinals of South Shelby.

Brock Wood had a strong game for the Cards, but so did Blake Hays and C.E. Talton of MCHS.

Monroe City went on to win 59-29 over the Cardinals of SSHS.

On the girls side, Monroe City hit the floor hosting South Shelby as well.

Monroe City’s Lauren Youngblood has a big outing for the Panthers pulling down rebounds and scoring in the paint.

South Shelby’s Mallory Wood was hitting three-pointers for the Cards.

Panthers standout Jada Summers heated up against the Cardinals finishing up with 27 points and 9 rebounds.

When the final buzzer sounded at NCHS, the Panthers went on to post a 55-25 win over South Shelby.
