The Blue Devils of QHS will face another tough task on the prep hardwood this Friday in Rock Island.

That’s where Quincy will tip-off against The Pioneers of Alleman High as they continue their Western Big 6 schedule.

QHS head coach Andy Douglas had his squad loose and quite active today during practice at Blue Devil Gym.

The Quincy coaching staff had scheduled practice from 2:15 to 4:45 pm this afternoon.

Unfortunately, today’s workout was interrupted when a fire alarm went off inside Blue Devil Gym.

The facility had to be evacuated and checked out by the hardworking firefighters from the Quincy Fire Department.

After the “all clear” was given to the QHS coaching staff by QFD, it was back to practice for the Blue Devils.

The team continues to work hard, sharpening their skills, as they attempt to improve in the hopes of locking up their first win of the season this week.

Coach Douglas stated, “If you talk talk about Western Big 6, our conference is always difficult. Going to play against an Alleman team that’s hungry…they’re playing pretty good basketball.”

He went on to add, ” And then you throw in Rocky and QND next week, that’s a couple of big weekends for us, but we need to get going.”

Finally coach Douglas concluded, “We understand playing good competition is going to get us there.”

No other Quincy High basketball team has started the season with an (0-5) slate in the history of the legendary program.
