Christmas services are underway throughout the Tri-States and one local priest hopes people haven’t lost the true meaning of Christmas.
Monday, people packed Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Quincy for a Christmas Eve mass.
Close to 500 people filled the sanctuary for what is one of their busiest masses of the year.
Father Chris Comerford said the message of Christmas this year is hope.
“Jesus brought good news to the world and brought hope to the world and I’m convinced he continues to bring that even in the midst of the difficulties and challenges that people face,” said Comerford. “He brings us that good news and that hope of salvation and I think that’s what brings people back year after year.”
Blessed Sacrament will have a midnight service Christmas Eve at 11pm followed by a 9 a.m. service Christmas morning.
