Shelbina Police arrest man following high-speed chase

Shelbina, Mo (WGEM) — Shelbina Police have reported the arrest of a Detroit, Michigan, man following a high-speed chase.

The Shelbina Police state that Hisham Mansoor, 25 of Detroit, Michigan, was arrested on Monday at 3:55 a.m.

Police state that on Sunday night the Shelbina Police Department was alerted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, of a white Camaro traveling eastbound on U.S. 36 in excess of 100 MPH. Shelbina Police Officers checked the vehicle’s speed at 94 MPH and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver increased speed and Shelbina Officer terminated the pursuit.

Police state, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers located the vehicle traveling at speeds over 100 MPH and were attempting to stop the vehicle near Monroe City. The suspect turned around traveling westbound on U.S. 36, as Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

A Shelbina Police Officer attempted to use a tire deflation device, as the vehicle traveled westbound on U.S. 36. The suspect erratically drove in the direction of the officer and missed the tire deflation device. He then exited onto Missouri 15, and attempted to turn north, crashing into the guardrail. He continued north, and stopping at the Shelbina Lake boat ramp, and fleeing on foot. Officers located the vehicle, and Shelbina Police K-9 unit began tracking the suspect.

The Shelbina K-9 unit and the Ralls County K-9 unit tracked the suspect while a perimeter was put in place. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Aircraft Division assisted locating the suspect with the use of the FLIR system.

Police state, Mansoor was located and arrested for assault 2nd degree (special victim), property damage 1st degree, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest, and exceeding the posted speed limit.

Mansoor was transported to the Shelby County Sheriffs Department and is being held on a 24-hour hold pending a warrant. This incident is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.

The Shelbina Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ralls County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Macon County Sheriff’s Department, Troop B Dispatch, Shelby County Dispatch, the Shelbina Fire Department.
