The search is on for Hannibal’s next city manager.
Wednesday night, city council approved using an outside firm to find candidates for the position.
That will cost the city about $28,000.
The mayor says while that seems steep, he sees it as an investment in the city’s future.
“When you look at salary and benefits over the course of 10 years, we’re investing a million dollars in that employee. I’d think it’s well worth $28,000 to invest in a good qualified candidate. And that’s what we need,” said Mayor James Hark.
Current City Manager Jeff LaGarce is expected to leave his position March 15th.
