Thursday marked national Cut Your Energy Day, and NECAC of Hannibal worked with residents in need to get their energy bills down.
NECAC officials helped residents caulk windows, replace glass, replace floor insulation, and more. They say many of these things are easy to do at home and can save people big money on their bills.
“The best things you can do to save money on your energy bills are usually the cheapest things, caulking around windows, weather stripping around doors, that kind of thing will save you a lot of money in the long,” said NECAC Spokesman Brent Engle.
Participants said they already feel the difference.
“They did a lot of work in the front of the house that’s made it so much warmer, we’re keeping the thermostat down now,” said homeowner Josh Stealey who received help today.
