Quincy High’s Sarah Nelson signed her National Letter of intent last month to play basketball next season at Quincy University.
On Wednesday, her frontcourt partner, Kaileigh Carothers took over the spotlight on the QHS campus as she signed her “NLI” with the Blazers of John Wood Community College.
Kaileigh’s proud parents, coaches, and teammates were all in attendance and looking on with anticipation during the special signing ceremony held in the school’s library.
The 5-foot-10 senior was beaming with pride and excitement, and for good reason.
Today’s signing was the culmination of a lifelong dream for Carothers.
Just after 1:15 pm this afternoon Kaileigh made it all official by signing on the dotted line.
The standout forward has turned in some solid performances on the hardwood this season for the Blue Devils.
Carothers was just 2 rebounds shy of a “double-double” this season against both Clopton and Greyslake Central.
Kaileigh selected JWCC over programs such as Illinois State and Western Illinois in Macomb.
