Major snow storm hits Tri-States

Tri-state residents woke up to several inches of snow on the ground Saturday morning as a winter storm moved over the area.

Authorities reported a few slide-offs across the region, but dispatchers say many people are heeding the warning to stay home and not travel during the storm.

Hannibal Police issued a statement Saturday morning saying they will only respond to emergency calls until the streets are passable.  They also asked that all unnecessary traffic stay off the roads due to the dangerous conditions, and to allow the Street Department to clear the roads..  Hannibal Police stated roads are dangerously slick.

Police across the area asked people to stay home unless they absolutely need to travel.  Transportation officials in Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa reported that all major roads were covered in snow as of Saturday morning.
