Heavy snow to continue Saturday in the Tri-States

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Good Saturday from the WGEM StormTrak Weather Center. We continue to track this powerful winter storm as it slams the Tri-States with several inches of heavy snow.

**Saturday updates: due to storm report data coming in and snow still to come due to storm moving slower, we have increased forecast totals across the northern Tri-States and brought some of the higher tier of snowfall into the central Tri-States**

Northern areas will see 8-12 inches of snowfall. Some cities impacted: Fort Madison, Keokuk, Macomb

Central and Southern areas will see 10-15 inches of snowfall. Some cities impacted: Quincy, Hannibal, Monroe City, Mt. Sterling, Pittsfield

Reported Snow Totals So Far:

New London, MO – 9.0 inches (10:18 AM Saturday)
Quincy, IL – 9.0 inches (9:30 AM Saturday)
Palmyra, MO – 9.0 inches (11:14 AM Saturday)
Macomb, IL – 9.0 inches (9:15 AM Saturday)
Keokuk, IA – 7.5 inches (10:57 AM Saturday)
Memphis, MO – 6.5 inches (9:30 AM Saturday)

There is still additional snowfall to come. Widespread moderate to at times heavy snow is expected to be ongoing throughout the entire day Saturday.

Little if any breaks in the snow are expected today. We will see changes in the intensity the snow is falling, but continual snowfall expected for most of the area through at least early evening.

**Latest forecast models have shown some indication that this storm will stick around for an extra couple of hours. Therefore, bursts of heavier snow are possible even later in the day, from this afternoon into the evening hours.**

Overnight Saturday, the snow will taper off to flurries or a few snow showers Sunday morning.

Roads are mostly snow-covered around the Tri-States today, and travel is discouraged. We have received reports of slide offs on area roads. If you must travel, allow plenty of extra time and have an emergency kit in case you become stranded.

Stay with the WGEM StormTrak Weather Team as we continue to track this storm through this weekend.
