Quincy University’s Cody Leonard may be checking his cell phone a little more often in the days ahead.
That’s because the Hawks All-American Linebacker may be receiving a call from representatives of a pro football
franchise. A franchise that may be willing to give Leonard a shot at making a professional roster.
WGEM Sports has learned that Leonard’s game tape may possibly be reviewed soon by members of
the Baltimore Ravens organization. The Arizona Cardinals may also take a look at the reining GLVC
Defensive Player of the Year. The Denver Bronco’s are also on the list of “possible suitors!”
The Carrollton product had a banner senior season with the Hawks on the gridiron in 2018.
Leonard finished the season with 10 or more tackles in every game and finished with an amazing 15.3 tackles
per game average. The Hawks captain also led all of NCAA Division II with 168 tackles and 88 solo stops
On the campus of Western Illinois University, head football Jared Elliott learned earlier today that St. Louis
native Khalen Saunders received an in-vote to this year’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
The standout defensive lineman, who finished this season in ranked among the Top 10 in the Missouri Valley
Football Conference in both sacks and tackles for a loss, will have another opportunity to make an impression on
professional scouts and coaches! Saunders lso participated in the Reece’s North-South All-Star Game in
January in Mobile, Alabama.
This year’s combine will be held from February 26- March 4 in the Hoosier State.
