(WGEM) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation made multiple raids in northeast Missouri on Tuesday, including in Monroe City and Hannibal.
Monroe City Police Chief Tyler Wheeler said that the FBI conducted law enforcement operations at multiple locations in Monroe City. He said the operations do not involve his department.
“They told me something would happen, but wouldn’t say what,” said Wheeler.
Hannibal Police Chief Lyndell Davis said that the Hannibal Police Department Anti-Crime Enforcement Squad (ACES) and Special Response Team (SRT) personnel were utilized as part of a larger operation involving several other agencies.
Officials with the FBI Springfield Illinois Central Office confirmed that there were raids in that area on Tuesday. They said that the investigation is open and additional information could not be released at this time.
