The Quincy Public Schools Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program will soon have new resources to help in the classroom.
It’s all thanks to a $2,500 donation from the Quincy Exchange Club, which was presented to the program Tuesday afternoon.
QPS Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher Katie Stegner said the donation will allow her to purchase a second microphone for classrooms, accessories and potentially another sound field.
All resources will help her students learn.
“The sound field system helps put the teachers’ voice at a nice level throughout the entire room to help overcome backroom noise and problems due to the distance so that everybody is on an even playing field when it comes to hearing the teacher’s message,” Stegner said.
Joel Koch with the Quincy Exchange Club said the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program is one of four big initiatives they donate to.
