Allen Gudehus officially takes the reigns as Knox County Sheriff following Tuesday night’s election results.
Running unopposed on the ballot, Gudehus received 173 of 176 total votes, with three going the way of write in candidates.
Gudehus had already been serving as the temporary sheriff after replacing former sheriff Robert Becker, who resigned after pleading guilty to a sex crime in December of 2018.
Gudehus was defeated by Becker in the 2016 election.
Ahead of Tuesday’s election, Democrats nominated Gudehus as their candidate, according to Knox County Clerk Marlene Spory.
Spory said Republicans, nor any other party, did not nominate a candidate.
