The February WGEM Golden Apple Award winner has spent more than three decades in the classroom.
Ft. Madison’s Lincoln Elementary teacher Chari Purchatzke received this month’s award.
This is Purchatzke’s 33rd year teaching. She’s spent all 33 years in the Ft. Madison School district teaching kindergartners.
“I just really have always enjoyed kids and being able to be a part of watching them grow up and learn so much,” Purchatzke said. “It’s just a lot of fun. So, that’s kind of why I stuck with this age.”
Coming up tonight on WGEM News at Six, some of Purchatzke’s students share what they like best about their teacher. And hear from her colleagues about what sets her apart from other teachers.
