Crews working on a temporary fix to Hwy 15 South of Paris, Missouri

Transportation officials said they’re planning for permanent repairs after a state highway was damaged by the natural gas explosion near Mexico, Missouri last weekend.

MoDOT engineer Brian Haeffner said the heat burned away oils in the asphalt of Highway 15 between Mexico and Paris.

The road has been closed since the explosion as crews work on a temporary fix until a permanent repair can be made.
