Downtown Quincy business set to close

Downtown Quincy is set to lose another business. The Salty Sun will close at the end of the month.

Officials with the district remain optimistic saying businesses open and close all the time but the doors to the Salty Sun will close for good March 22nd. That’s when the lease for the space comes to an end.

The owner said they’ve been in business for three years now.

Her business partner has a different full time job now which led to the decision to close the store.

The owner said it will be hard to leave The District as a business owner but she said it may not be the last of the salty sun.

“We do have a space that’s available to us that needs some work and maybe more of a collaboration with some different vendors selling different types of things, not necessarily all furniture or all retail, just a wide variety of products that people have expressed interest in bringing to Quincy,” said owner Denette Kuhlman.

Kuhlman said that’s just an idea at this point.

As for the location, the building owner said they already have another business signed on to take over the space after the Salty Sun moves out.
