Local Muslims are mourning the victims of the attack in New Zealand.

The founder of the Islamic Center in Quincy says during their Friday prayers they prayed for the families of the shooting that they might find peace.

She says they also asked local law enforcement to step up patrols around their place of worship Friday.

“You become wordless,” said Zakiah Ali. “How could anyone single-handedly perpetrate such a heineous crime ,blatantly. It was like man had become a rabid animal.”

Ali says while they asked for extra security Friday, it’s important to not live in fear and let fear consume their community’s sense of well-being.
