U.S. Cellular awarded a local student with a $10,000 check through its The Future of Good program.

Lainie Chandler of Shelbina, Missouri is one of the 16 young humanitarians U.S. Cellular recognized for the inspirational acts of good they do in their communities.

Chandler is spreading awareness of human trafficking and will now use $10,000 to further her cause.

“You don’t have to be widely known to make a change,” Chandler said. “Your parents don’t have to be famous, you don’t have to live in a big city, you don’t have to have a million dollars. All you need is passion and knowledge about the subject.”

According to a press release, U.S. Cellular’s recipients were selected out of hundreds of nominations from across the country.
