A road safety project that has been several years in the making is starting to come together near Palmyra, Missouri.
The Missouri Department of Transportation will soon make improvements at the US 61/24 and Route F intersection, south of Palmyra.
The improvements include moving Route F to square up the intersection, essentially re-aligning the intersection.
Officials hope the change will reduce fatalities and injuries.
“We understood what the problem was but wanted to get some ideas from the community on what’s the best solution,” said Brian Haeffner, MoDOT area engineer. “We’ve taken their ideas and put them up with what we think is going to improve safety at the intersection.”
Construction on the realignment is expected to begin next year
