U.S. expanding initiatives to keep taxpayers from funding abortion

According to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the United States is expanding two initiatives he said prevents taxpayer money from funding abortion.

The Trump administration expanded the “Mexico City” policy. It prevents tax payer dollars from being used for foreign non-governmental organizations that promote abortion.

Pompeo said the country would also crack down on foreign assistance to lobby for or against abortion.

“This is decent,” Pompeo said. “This is right. And I am proud to serve in an administration that protects the least amongst us. Now, two years into our administration, the vast majority are implementing partners who have agreed to comply with the policy and they continue to work with us.”

The move appears to dovetail with the Trump administration’s “gag law”. The policy restricts taxpayer-funded family clinics from referring women for abortions.
