Quincy, IL (WGEM) — $10,000 of renovations was awarded to a local veteran and his family on Thursday. This was through Doors-N-More’s Operation Renovation, Military Edition.

With votes from the community Larry Perrine, a Vietnam veteran, and his wife Bonnie won the home renovation.

“I’m just amazed at all the people that voted for us and all the hard work that was put into it, it’s humbling,” said Larry.

They said they have lived in their home for 50 years and said the renovation was much needed. Crews spent 48 hours renovating the home. They replaced doors, windows, sidings, rebuilt their front porch, and much more.

“It’s very humbling to think that people would come together and just volunteer their time to do it and not even be paid for it, and that they donated as much as they did as far as supplies and stuff were concerned, it’s just overwhelming,” said Bonnie.
