Proposition K.I.D.S. approved in Lewis Co.

CANTON, Mo (WGEM) — Voters in Lewis County passed a proposition that will allow the Canton R-V School District to extend the district’s current 55 cent property tax levy another 15 years.

The Proposition won with 97 percent of the vote.

The proposition will allow the district to borrow $2.5 million for the purpose of providing funds to implement safety and security measures, to complete energy efficiency improvements and repairs to roofs, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Officials say the debt service of the levy is estimated to remain unchanged at $.5500 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.

Canton R-V Superintendent Jesse Uhlmeyer said phase one of the facilities upgrades including an updated HVAC system should be installed over the summer.
