Voters say no to funding repairs of Hannibal storm water system

HANNIBAL (WGEM) —  Marion County residents voted no on Proposition S Tuesday night. Denying the funding for the repair of Hannibal’s storm water system.

The Hannibal Board of Public Works said had Proposition S passed, a storm water fee would be assessed for each property. They estimated the fee would be $1.39 per 500 square feet of impervious area. Impervious area is the area that contributes to storm water runoff. They said the average home would have paid around $6 a month.

It’s unclear what BPW officials plan to do now that the issue failed.
