QUINCY (WGEM) — Adams County Clerk Chuck Venvertloh said inaccurate result totals were released Tuesday night after the election in Adams County.

Venvertloh stated that county’s website had some candidates in Camp Point listed in an incorrect order.  So when votes were added, they were inadvertently associated with the wrong person.

Venvertloh reported that the Village of Camp Point Mayor’s Race had Edward Tjaden listed first with 169 votes and Daniel Mock listed second with 89 votes. However, Daniel Mock is the winner of that race, and the names were flip-flopped.

The mix-up also impacted the Camp Point Trustees race. The website lists in order: J. Matthew Gordon, Nicole B. Buehler, Duane Ware, Jim Simpson, John Hibbert. The correct order should be Duane Ware with 174 votes, Jim Simpson 146 votes, John Hibbert 178 votes, J. Matthew Gordon 59 votes, and Nicole Buehler 114 votes. That means Hibbert, Ware, and Simpson secured enough votes to take the three open positions.

“The Adams County Clerk’s office apologizes for this clerical error. We are working with our vendor to correct that error as soon as possible. If you have any question, please contact the County Clerk’s office,” Venvertloh said.
