As Holy Week continues, Quincy worshipers were taken back to the time of Jesus.
At the Maundy Thursday service at Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, volunteers performed a re-enactment of the Lord’s supper. Maundy means mandate. Salem Church Reverend Matthew Hunt says the mandate refers to the command Jesus gave to love others as he loves us.
“With the reenactment of the Lord’s supper, it’s a perfect example of how Jesus was betrayed by us and our sinful nature and in response he did not come back angry,” said Rev. Hunt. “He did not come back hateful. He loved us. He gave his life for us.”
As we head into Easter weekend, Rev. Hunt says one of his messages for people to remember is that there is resurrection and hope at the end of each day.
