Quincy School Board gives green light on new athletic facility

Plans are moving forward for a $1.38 million athletic facility at Flinn Stadium.

The facility will feature a weight room, locker room, video room and storage for equipment.

At Wednesday’s Quincy School Board meeting, the board unanimously approved the facility which is 100 percent funded by donations.

“It’s still a great stadium,” said QHS Head Football Coach Rick Little. “It’s beautiful from the outside but when you go in the inside and work out in there, you see there’s a lot of wear to that. It’s definitely time for an upgrade and you can do it a couple ways. I’m extremely proud that the committee and the group that’s put all the effort into this has decided to do it the right way.”

The new facility is set to be located near the new scoreboard on the south side of the existing facility. It’s expected to be complete in June.
