Hannibal fight ends in stabbing and one arrest

HANNIBAL (WGEM) — A suspect is in jail following a fight Saturday night in Hannibal where one person was stabbed.

Lt. John Zerbonia of the Hannibal Police Department reported that Saturday night, officers were called to the 100 block of Lindsey Dr. for a fight in progress involving several people.

Police learned that a Bowling Green, Missouri, man had been stabbed in his upper abdomen while attempting to break up the altercation.

Zerbonia stated that Lucas Benjamin, 35 of Bowling Green, was arrested at the scene for Assault 1st degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Benjamin was placed in the Marion County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

The victim was held overnight at the Hannibal Regional Hospital for observation.

Zerbonia stated that on Sunday a warrant was issued by the Circuit Court of Marion County charging Benjamin with Assault 2nd Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

His bond was set at $25,000 cash only. Benjamin remains in the Marion County Jail.
