Quincy man accused of stabbing son pleads guilty

QUINCY (WGEM) — A Quincy man accused of stabbing his son outside his home on Father’s Day last year pleaded guilty on Tuesday.

Court records state that Jay Schroder, 63, pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Unlawful Restraint and one count of Aggravated Battery/Use of a Deadly Weapon. A charge of Aggravated Domestic Battery was dismissed.

Police said Schroder stabbed his son outside his home at 1709 Sycamore on June 17, 2018.

Officers said they found Schroder’s son with a puncture wound to the upper shoulder/chest area and a laceration to the forehead. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Blessing Hospital.

Schroder’s sentencing was scheduled for July 29.
