Blazers to Mustangs: John Wood’s Alaina Vance and Emma Popp Sign NLI’s with Mount Mercy

Monday afternoon at John Wood, two members of the Lady Blazers Basketball program signed national letters of intent.

JWCC teammates Alaina Vance and Emma Popp will remain teammates as the duo sign NLI’s with Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Both players knew they had to make the best choices for themselves first and foremost, but being able to make this jump to the Mustangs basketball program “together” is certainly an added bonus.

Popp said “We had kind of talked about it jokingly saying like oh we should go to college together and then once our decisions and our schools started and closing in on our final decisions are going to be made we decided that Mount Mercy was the best choice for both of us and that it was just awesome we could both go together as well.”

Vance added that, “It makes us so much easier.

Just someone that I know has became my best friend this past year and knowing that we can continue our friendship and build on our friendship someone that I can just always rely on and I know she’ll be there.”
