Residents wait for floodwaters to recede

Residents along the Illinois River continue to wait for floodwaters to recede so they can begin flood cleanup.

In Florence, Illinois, the water has gone down, but not enough for many residents to begin damage assessment and repair.

Many roads in Florence remained closed. Signs, caution tape, and orange construction cones still blocked off roads.

Illinois Congressman Darin LaHood planned to tour flood damaged areas along the Illinois River on Monday, including a stop in Scott County.

LaHood is expected to meet with agriculture leaders, emergency management officials, and drainage district officials.
