Communities along the Illinois River in Pike County continue to wait for the waters to further recede so they can flood cleanup.
In Valley City, Illinois on Tuesday morning Highway 21 remained closed due to high water. Signs and flashing lights remain posted to alert drivers.
Water that once surrounded several businesses in the area has receded to the point where it is no longer touches the buildings.
In nearby Pearl, Illinois Highway 100 also remained closed Tuesday morning due to high water. Signs are posted down the road in Detroit to warn drivers of the closure.
Residents said they continue to run pumps to keep water out of certain areas.
The store manager at the gas station in Pearl said they plan to keep sandbags in place around the building until the water further recedes as a precautionary measure.
