Montrose home destroyed by fire

MONTROSE, IA (WGEM) — A home in Montrose, Iowa, was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning.

Montrose Fire Chief Jason Dinwiddie said crews responded to the house, located at 2183 320th St., at 12:30 a.m.

Dinwiddie said the lone occupant of the house returned home to find it filled with smoke.

Dinwiddie said crews were on scene for approximately 3 and a half hours. He said the home was a total loss. He said the man who lived there will stay with nearby family members.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Dinwiddie, but he noted it’s not considered suspicious.

No injuries were reported.
