The Mississippi Valley Boy Scouts unveiled their new service center on Thursday located at 2522 Locust with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The chapter was originally on Oak Street, but organizers say they were outgrowing that location and this new facility allows them to offer more to scout families and to the public.
“One of the great features about this building is no steps,” said Ryan Barnes with the Mississippi Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America. “We can accommodate more people. It’s easier to get in and out of the building. When we are having our annual popcorn sale, there’s going to be less stress going up and down the steps for that. It’s going to be more functional for our volunteers, our youth and our adults.”
Barnes says they are selling camp specific merchandise at their new location. You can also go there for more information or to sign up your child to be a scout.
