QUINCY (WGEM) – Investigators are looking into a shooting that was reported near 10th & Washington Streets Monday afternoon.

Lt. Chad Scott with the Quincy Police Department said a call came in around 4:50 p.m. of a person with a gunshot wound that showed up at Blessing Hospital.

Scott said the victim told officers that they were shot near 10th & Washington Streets.

Officers on scene said the shooting appeared to have happened in the middle of the street.

Evidence markers were on the ground in that area Monday night.

Scott said police conducted a search warrant on a home in the area, but no arrests have been made at this point.

Residents said the neighborhood is normally safe, so this news is shocking to them.

“I’ve always felt like this was a safe neighborhood to be around,” Marissa Smith said. “Nothing has ever happened here and then we came outside tonight and we were like, ‘whoa.’ We didn’t ever think this was going to happen here.”

As for the victim, he said the injuries weren’t life threatening at this time.
