Hannibal Police arrest St. Louis man for stealing handgun

HANNIBAL (WGEM) — Hannibal Police have reported the arrest of a St. Louis man after he stole a handgun from an individual in Hannibal.

Lt. John Zerbonia reported that on Wednesday at 11:27 p.m. officers were called to the area of Gordon St. and Richmond for a report of a stolen handgun.

Upon arrival the victim reported he had been assaulted by Corey Cobb, 25, of St Louis, and that his handgun was stolen during the assault.

Cobb was still in the area and was taken into custody without incident. The gun was located hidden in a yard and seized as evidence.

Cobb was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Marion County Jail.

Zerbonia stated that the victim suffered only minor injuries, that did not require medical attention.
