Sheriff provides update on Quincy homicide investigation

QUINCY (WGEM) — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on a Quincy homicide investigation that began over a week ago.

On May 30, at 1 p.m. the Adams Country Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body on the side of the road in the 200 block of Koch’s Lane in Quincy.

The sheriff’s office later identified the body as that of Orlando Smith, 20, of Quincy.

Adam’s County Sheriff Brian VonderHaar stated Friday that officials don’t believe Smith was killed at the location where the body was found.

No other new information was available Friday.

VonderHaar stated that the sheriff’s office along with the Quincy Police Department, the Illinois State Police and the Adams County State’s Attorney are aggressively investigating this case.
