This Saturday evening on the Quincy University campus, the Illinois and Missouri All-Stars will tip-off once again in their yearly rivalry showdown on the prep hardwood at the McDonald’s Herald-Whig Classic.

The Missouri boys held practice today at Hannibal middle school with a loaded roster.

Leading the Missouri All-Stars is Hannibal’s Marty Hull who has experience in this game on the Illinois side when he was the head coach at Western.

Hull still has a sour taste in his mouth from being one of just two Illinois teams to ever lose in the classic in it’s 35 year history and all-star game or not in Hull’s eyes a loss is still a loss.

Hull said, “If you’re competitive you’re always mad when you lose.

Because you have such a great group of kids so you’re always mad when you lose because the expectations always to win.

I don’t care what the record is, you’re wanting to win.”

As far as the players go, the all-stars may not have been involved in the 2-33 slate Missouri has posted in this game, but the class of 2019 is well aware of everything and they are very motivated to come out on top this Saturday night.

Monroe City’s C.E. Talton said, “Oh yeah we have a chip on our shoulder.

Everyone wants to tell us, ‘Hey you guys only won twice.’

So you know we have to come out here and try and make history because it’s been a while and I’m sure the guys here are ready to do it.”
