Hannibal man arrested after trying to flee police

HANNIBAL (WGEM) — A Hannibal man was arrested Tuesday morning for possession and distribution of marijuana and resisting arrest after he tried to flee from police.

Lt. John Zerbonia reported that Jeffrey Anderson, 33, of Hannibal, was arrested after leading police on a short pursuit in a vehicle and then on foot.

Zerbonia stated that after Anderson was taken into custody the vehicle he was driving was searched and a large amount of what is believed to be marijuana was seized.

Anderson was placed on a 24 hour hold for resisting arrest, distribution of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

He was cited for driving while revoked, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to yield right-of-way to oncoming traffic.

A warrant was issued for Distributing a Controlled Substance.

Anderson’s bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.

Zerbonia stated that Anderson has since posted bond and has been released.
