Quincy crews are preparing to start on phase two of the road work project on 18th Street. set to cost nearly one million dollars.
The second phase will include resurfacing of 18th Street from Chestnut to Maple. Crews will also work on curb, gutter and sidewalks.
Earlier this year, crews started to replace sewer and water on that same stretch of road but that work took longer than expected.
“We’ve been delayed quite a bit by the weather,” said Quincy City Engineer Jeffrey Conte. “We got a lot of rain this Spring which led to a lot of days where the contractor didn’t work. We also had some additional work which had to be added which made the project go longer.”
18th Street should be re-opened within the next week or two, with phase two of the project set to start later this year. The project is 80 percent funded with federal aid urban funding.
