WGEM and the Herald Whig will once again spearhead the 2019 Fourth of July Fireworks for Quincy. Fireworks in Quincy And Hannibal will be displayed in synch with a selection of patriotic and popular music that will be simulcast on WGEM 105.1 FM. This year’s celebration marks the return of the festivities to the Illinois Veterans Home grounds.
In Quincy, the fireworks are sponsored by Blessing Health System, HyVee, Refreshment Services Pepsi, Gardner Denver, Adams Fiber and Knapheide. Festivities for the entire family will be offered Throughout the grounds. Once again the Quincy Park Band will be featured performing their popular patriotic medley.
There will also be food provided by HyVee and drink vendors from Pepsi on site. Carlos Fernandez, VP/General Manager of WGEM said, “The Fourth of July celebration is one that we have been proud to put on for several years. With the support of various city departments (fire, police, bus), and the cooperation from the staff of the IVHQ, this will be a very special night for everyone.”
Fireworks at both locations is set for 9:30PM on Thursday, July 4th. For easy access to the music, anyone with a smartphone or tablet can download free the WGEM FM app and be able to listen to the music from their phone.
Planning has been underway for several months. By holding it on the Veterans’ Home grounds, it will give visitors a chance to visit with veterans who reside there. WGEM’s and the Herald Whig’s goal is to make this a memorable and enjoyable event. The focus is being placed on maintaining and growing the patriotic community spirit that Independence Day brings out each year and to create memories worth remembering.
