National Tom Sawyer Days continues throughout the weekend in Hannibal. Many are expected to attend and businesses are also looking to cash in from all the extra foot traffic.
Many of the hotels in Hannibal are almost full and Hannibal Chamber of Commerce Executive Director McKenzie Disselhorst said it means people will be exploring and supporting businesses by spending money.
Disselhorst added despite weather challenges it has been a great year in Hannibal.
Main Street Bed & Breakfast owner Michael Ginsberg said this is a busy time of year for his business.
“We are full through Saturday and have been all week, so it’s been really good building up to the festival,” Ginsberg said. “The foot traffic is of course summers are always good, the bicentennial activities, this is our 200th anniversary, there’s something going on all the time.”
Also this weekend, July 6 is the Jaycees Concert Series-Throwback Night with “Killer Queen” and ‘SuperJam” show beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Tanyard Gardens.
