Tornado siren malfunctions in Liberty

LIBERTY, Il. – Instead of their alarms clocks, Liberty residents woke up to a false tornado alarm Saturday morning.

According to officials, the sirens went off for about five minutes little after 7:00 A.M..

Adams County Emergency Management director John Simon said he was shocked because they did not activate the siren.

“We believed that it malfunctioned in some way,” Simon said “We’re going to call service techs in on Monday in order to get down to the bottom of the issue.”

Simon said this is a good reminder during severe weather season you should always have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts
