HANNIBAL, Mo. – Thousands ran through the streets of Hannibal for the 24th annual Hannibal Cannibal Sunday morning.
The event is put on by the Hannibal Regional Foundation.
Officials with the foundation said this event is one of their major fundraising events for the year.
Funds raised from this year’s race will go towards their Building Better Tomorrows campaign, which aims to raise funds for surgical expansion, ICU expansion and renovation, and women’s care renovation at Hannibal Regional.
“We want to have the latest and the greatest technology we can offer, we want to keep healthcare local so people don’t have to travel to get the most recent and up-to-date procedures and services, so through this we’re able to offer more services with the latest technologies,” said Angie Wilcoxson, Hannibal Regional Foundation Finance Director
Hannibal Regional Foundation officials said they already had around $50,000 raised from the people already registered before the race Saturday morning, and more was added to that as people signed up last-minute.
