It’ll Eat You Up: 24th Annual Hannibal Cannibal

If you like an early morning run for your life this was the day for you, it was the 24th Annual Hannibal Cannibal.

The streets of downtown Hannibal were packed this afternoon with runners from across the Tri-States including Bowling Green Athletic Director and Track and Field Coach Matt Chance made an appearance.

The Cannibal was raising money for Hannibal Regional’s Back to Better Campaign.

In the 5K some familiar faces and sophomores to be found themselves at the top of the pack.

West Hancock’s Miles Sheppard first among the men with a time of 16 minutes and 40 seconds and leading the way for the females is who else but Marion County’s Delaney Straus at 21 minutes and 49 seconds.

Afterwards both racers talked about the challenge and the fun that is the Hannibal Cannibal.

Sheppard said, “When I run up a hill it kind of feels like I’m walking at the same time.

It doesn’t really feel like I’m running at all.

Just trying to train hard before the actual race and cross country.

Try to stay in shape and try to get better.”

Straus added, “Everybody’s all real excited and ready to go and it’s just really cool.”
