2 Macomb teens arrested for stealing guns

MACOMB, IL (WGEM) — Macomb Police said two 13 year old juveniles have been arrested for allegedly stealing two AR-15 semi-automatic rifles and ammunition.

Police stated that on Sunday at approximately 4:36 a.m., police responded to Pawn Plus at 324 W. Jackson St. for an alarm. Upon arrival officers found the glass to the front door shattered and two AR-15s missing from the business.

Later Sunday morning at approximately 9:35 a.m., Macomb Police were alerted to a burglary that had occurred earlier in the night at Farm King. Police were able to determine that someone attempted to take weapons from the business, but they were not able to get access to them. The suspects took ammunition from the store and fled.

Police stated that they were able to determine that the suspects that entered Pawn Plus were the same suspects that conducted the burglary at Farm King.

At approximately 10 a.m. Sunday police determined through interviews that two possible suspects were at Prairie View Housing. Police were able to locate the two suspects and locate evidence at the residence connecting the suspects to both burglaries.

Police stated the AR-15s and ammunition were recovered in a nearby dumpster.

Police reported the teens were charged with Burglary, Criminal Damage Over $500, and Possession of a firearm without a FOID.
