Construction on the new Adams County Jail continues to move forward.
New signage is up at the Quincy Police Department entrance on the north side of the building as well as the jail visitation entrance on the south end.
Adams County Board Member Mark Peter says the police and sheriff’s office is about 75 percent complete. However, the housing area for inmates still needs quite a bit of interior work.
“The cells are all in but there’s a lot of work,” said Peter. “Those require a lot more. There’s a lot of wiring and all the locks are electronic. There’s a lot more work to do in that section of the building than the office space.”
The new police and sheriff’s office is expected to be complete by September.
The rest of the jail has a November completion date.
